How to tell a real deal

  1. Look for the crossed-out price. Amazon shows the usual price next to the sale price. A real deal is usually at least 20% off.
  2. Check the stars and the number of reviews. Pick items with 4 stars or more and plenty of reviews. A cheap price on a poorly rated item is not a deal.
  3. Watch for the clock. Lightning deals have a timer and a "% claimed" bar. If you like it, add it to your cart before it sells out.
  4. Check the delivery date. Make sure it arrives before you need to wrap it.
  5. Buy early on the big stuff. The most popular deals often sell out on Black Friday morning.
